About the Artist

Meghan McGregor
Ceramic Artist
Meghan is from Toronto, Canada. Currently based between Hong Kong and Jingdezhen. Her work draws inspiration from natural textures and the organic unpredictability of clay. Through sculptural forms and small, faceless clay figures, she explores imperfection, transformation, and the quiet resilience found in both nature and human experience.

"Clay is never still. It stretches, cracks, and moves at its own pace — a reminder that control is always shared."
Creative Journey
I was born and raised in Toronto, where I first discovered clay as a child in ongoing ceramics classes. As an adult, I spent several years working in professional kitchens, where I became fascinated by the relationship between food and the vessels that hold it. During that time, I continued to work with ceramics — often late into the night — finding balance between the precision of cooking and the unpredictability of clay.

Eventually, a new opportunities allowed me to dedicate myself to ceramics full time. For the past six years, I’ve built a home practice while working as both a teacher and technician, sharing knowledge and deepening my understanding of material. Over time, my focus expanded from functional ware to larger sculptural works that explore texture, form, and emotion.
Artistic Approach
I look to nature for reference — to the erosion of stone, the patterns left by water, the worn softness of things that have endured. These details become meditations in form and surface, translated through touch.
Alongside this exploration of texture, I create small, faceless clay humans — quiet figures that express emotion through posture and gesture. They are reminders of stillness, vulnerability, and resilience. Whether sculptural or functional, my pieces aim to hold both tension and calm, echoing the rhythms of the natural world and the imperfect beauty of being human.
